Best students to compete for 2007 Merit Scholarships

The Educational Advising Centre (EAC) is announcing the 2007 merit Scholarships program, for the best students in Moldova under the Rectors ' Council of the Republic of Moldova aegis with the financial support of Soros Foundation Moldova, BC Moldova Agroindbank, and Voxtel. The program offers 50 annual scholarships: 3rd degree-3000 MDL, 2nd gedree-5000 MDL, 1st-8000 MDL.
Eligible for the program are the 2nd year (3 years studying cycle), 3rd-4th year students (4 years studying cycle) and 4th-6th (5 or 6 year studying cycle) for students from all departments, of the Republic of Moldova Universities, with the average mark score, for all studying years not less then 9 - for students from social-humanities sciences departments; 8.5 - for exact, technical and medical-biological sciences; 8 - for students with disabilities and/or orphans.
Participants should submit the completed registration form, which can be taken at the EAC office, or the university administrations, their Curriculum Vitae, which should include the most important extracurricular activities during the university studies period with proving documents annexed, aria of interests, abilities; academic certificate signed by pro-rector, showing the average grade for each semester, including the results at the winter exam session 2006/2007 and the general medium grade from the entire period of studies; a recommendation letter from a professor; copies of materials that confirm participation at conferences, scientific seminars, competitions etc., the list of scientific articles, with photocopies. These are not compulsory materials, but they will represent an advantage. Participants should attach copies of their identity cards. Students with disabilities or orphans should attach the respective acts.
Uncompleted applications will not be examined and the ones completed incorrectly will be rejected at the preselection stage. Documents accepted for the competition will be examined by a Council of Exports and the Rectors ' Council. All candidates are invited to the written test – an essay, the topic of which will be announced immediately before the test. The written test will take place on Saturday, March 31, at 14:00, at the Academy of Economic Sciences, Block “C” (Bookkeeping and Finances Faculty), room no. 502, 61 Banulescu-Bodoni street. In order to participate in the test, participants should present their identity cards. The person which is absent or late to the test will be disqualified.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 29, 17:00. The results of the competition will be publicised on May 11. The awarding ceremony will be held on May 22.
