“The Moldovan producers are ready to yearly supply over 100,000 tonnes of fresh vegetables and fruit to Belarus,” First Deputy Head of Parliament Vlad Plahotniuc said in a meeting with a Belarusian parliamentary delegation in Chisinau. He stressed that the two countries carry out important projects and transactions, but some of the importers of Moldovan products settle the debts with delay and this problem should be dealt with, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the legislative body. According to the communiqué, the delegation of the Parliament of Belarus included Vitalii Busiko, chairman of the Standing Commission on International Relations, and Alexandr Loseakin, a member of the Standing Commission on Education, Culture, Science and Technical-Scientific Progress. The discussion centered on a number of aspects of the Moldovan-Belarusian relations, but emphasis was put on how the parliamentary cooperation can contribute to developing the economic cooperation between the two countries. In particular, Vlad Plahotniuc asked the Belarusian MPs to get involved in creating favorable conditions for the export of Moldovan products to Belarus. The head of the Belarusian delegation Vitalii Bisiko said that there is an increased interest in the cooperation between the legislatures of Moldova and Belarus, including within the international organizations of which the two countries form part. He pleaded for intensifying the cooperation between the parliamentary commissions and the government departments. For his part, Veaceslav Osipenko said that trade between the two states in 2011 hit a record high and the exports of Moldovan wine products and vegetables to Belarus increased. He also said that the first Belarusian trolleybuses will start to be assembled in Chisinau this year, while the tractor production will be doubled on last year. The interlocutors also discussed the typical features of the electoral systems of Moldova and Belarus and the possibilities of developing parliamentary cooperation.
