Belarus Premier to visit Moldova

The Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov will pay a visit to Moldova on October 2-3. Moldovan Premier Pavel Filip welcomed the planned visit in a meeting with the President of Belarus Alexandr Lukashenko held in Bishkek, on the sidelines of the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip said this visit is a good opportunity for identifying new possibilities of developing the bilateral relations and for establishing new partnerships in the areas of cooperation. He noted that Moldova is ready to implement common projects to develop infrastructure for increasing its exports, including of fruit, vegetables and wines, to Belarus and the EU.

Belarus is one of the main trading partners of Moldova. In 2015, the Moldovan companies exported products to the value of over US$130 million to Belarus. Imports from Belarus came to over US$84 million.

Within the CIS Council’s meeting, Pavel Filip also met with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev. In the first meeting, the Premier underlined the importance of creating conditions and the necessary infrastructure for stimulating bilateral commercial exchanges and invited Ilham Alyiev to pay a visit to Moldova.

In the second meeting, he expressed Moldova’s interest in developing the Moldovan-Kyrgyz political and economic relations, pleading for increasing Moldova’s wine exports to Kyrgyzstan. Almazbek Atambaev said his country is open for a constructive dialogue with Moldova so as to establish mutually advantageous partnerships in agriculture, industry and information technology.
