A man from Balti is under criminal investigation for bribery and influence peddling. He was detained and placed in the remand unit of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC). The suspect claimed that, through his lawyer, he could obtain a non-custodial sentence for three defendants in a hooliganism case, IPN reports.
The man allegedly asked for 60,000 lei: 10,000 lei for the lawyer and the rest of the money for the persons who handled the case against the three defendants.
“Under the procedural direction of the Balti Prosecutor’s Office, the person was detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC’s remand unit. We remind that any person is presumed to be innocent until a final and irrevocable court judgement is pronounced,” reads a NAC press release.
