A 72-year-old man died after he inhaled carbon monoxide fumes during a fire last night. Dorina Cruc, the spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the fire broke out in a house in the municipality of Balti. At about 3.30, the neighbors saw smoke coming out of an annexe. The body of the man was found in the house after the fire was put out. The cause of the fire is being established. Monday’s fire in Cricova town that killed a 53-year-old man was blamed on a lit cigarette. As many as 278 persons have been killed in fires caused by lit cigarettes this year.
