The city of Balti could remain without water and sewerage from tomorrow, November 9. The situation is generated by the misunderstandings between “Aqua Nord” Soroca and “Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord”, mayor of the municipality of Balti Nicolai Grigorishin stated in a municipal meeting, IPN reports.

According to the mayor, “Aqua Nord” Soroca received a letter from “FEE-Nord”, informing that on November 9, the supply of electricity at the pumping stations in Soroca town will be switched off. “Aqua Nord” Soroca must clear the debts for the consumed electricity. These pumping stations pump water to Balti. “FEE-Nord” and “Aqua Nord” have disagreements, but Balti, which does not have any debts to Soroca, will be disconnected from the water supply and sewerage system. The Balti mayor’s office made approaches to “Apă-Canal Bălți”, “Glorin Inginering” and “Direcția Troleibuze” and a commission for exceptional situations was set up.

Nicolai Grigorishin noted that the Balti mayor’s office warned the head of the National Commission for Exceptional Situations, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, about the expected disconnections. The State Chancellery sent a letter by which the Balti mayor’s office, “Apă Canal Bălți” and “Aqua Nord” Soroca are urged to resolve this conflict by discussions.

The mayor added that if “FEE-Nord” disconnects the city from the supply of electricity, Balti will not have water and the sewerage system will stop working in at most 24 hours. “I asked the jurists to inform the Security and Intelligence Service of the Republic of Moldova about the fact that “FEE-Nord” and “Aqua Nord” Soroca consciously want to disconnect Balti from the water supply,” stated Nicolai Grigorishin.
