Balti electoral council forces local administration to create places for election ads

The Chisinau district electoral council, following a notification by the PLDM, obliged the acting mayor of Balti municipality Octavian Mahu to make sure that there are created special places where to put election posters and to hold meetings with voters, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PLDM informed the electoral body that the Balti public administration did not fulfill the mayor’s order to create special places for election ads and for meetings with the voters. The PLDM claims its election rights were thus violated. At the same time, the council rejected as groundless the PLDM’s request to allocate additional places for election posters. It argued that under the Election Code, the billboards for election posters are placed uniformly all over the settlement. Therefore, the election runners can put election ads without coordinating this act with the local public administration.
