The Central Election Commission (CEC) on Tuesday decided to assign different colors to the ballot papers that will be used in the June 5 general local elections in order to minimize confusions, Info-Prim Neo.
For the election of village or town mayors, the ballots will be pink, and for the mayoral elections in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti the ballots will be purple. The ballots for the election of village and town councils will be gray, and those for the election of district and municipal councils will be beige.
“This is a traditional color coding that has already been used in the 2003 and 2007 local elections. This measure is needed for more clarity in using the ballots by the voters. This will also help to avoid confusions during vote counting”, explained CEC chairman Iurie Ciocan.
Iurie Ciocan also said that the colors are politically neutral: none of the political parties registered in Moldova uses these colors.
