A backpack full of textbooks, notebooks, school supplies should not weigh more than 10% of the student’s body weight. To lighten schoolchildren’s bags, materials and tools for plastic education and technological education lessons, as well as sports suits and shoes will be kept at school, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Education and Research’s document prohibits trolley bags because of the position that the student needs to adopt. The school bag for students must be made of high-quality materials that aren’t deformed under the pressure of school supplies.

It is recommended to carry in the backpack only textbooks and notebooks that were approved by the Ministry of Education and Research and correspond to the curricular provisions. In order not to exceed the set norms, it is recommended that in primary classes the students should write on math and dictando notebooks that have no more than 12 pages. The list of items to be brought from home to school daily in the backpack must be minimized.

Work materials and tools, such as album/folder with drawing paper, watercolors, brushes, palette, plasticine, crayons, sharpener, water glass, scissors with long blades, color cardboard, colored paper, needles, knitting needles, thread, fabric and other school supplies necessary for lessons will be kept in specially designated places in the classroom. It is also recommended to keep sports suit and shoes in lockers in the classroom/locker rooms at school.

Parents are recommended to opt for a high-quality product when choosing the backpack because it can be a long-term investment – for two-three years or for the whole level of study. It is important that the chosen product should be made of high-quality materials so that the students can take care of it on their own.
