The International Center Nizami Ganjavi of Azerbaijan is interested in extending Moldova’s participation in the organization’s activities, the Center’s executive director Rovshan Muradov said in a meeting with Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, IPN reports.

Created in September 2012 in memory of the Azeri poet Nizami Ganjavi, the Center aims to promote tolerance and understanding between peoples by staging events designed to contribute to keeping the cultural heritage and by encouraging cognizance, research and social mobilization activities.

“Given that Moldova is recognized as a leader in the Eastern Partnership and enjoys increased support on the part of the international partners, we consider the time is now opportune for examining possible cooperation projects that will contribute to strengthening the Moldovan-Azeri relations as well,” stated Rovshan Muradov.

The Premier appreciated Azerbaijan’s experience in organizing large-scale international events, saying this is an example that should be followed.

The interlocutors also discussed the first European Olympic Games that will take place in Baku on June 12-28, 2015. At this event, Moldova will be represented by 90 athletes.
