A work group from the Republic of Moldova will visit Baku in the Azerbaijan Republic in the first third of September in order to share the Azerbaijan experience in identifying resources of petrol and natural gas.
According to a Governmental order, signed by prime-minister Vasile Tarlev, the group will be formed from 5 persons, including the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Constantin Mihailescu, head of the Gasification and energetic resources Department, Mihai Dolma, head of the Department of Investments policies and administration of the public patrimony within the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Vladimir Crivciun, head of the Geological State Department „AGeoM”, Iurie Iliinschi, and the prime-secretary of the Moldovan embassy in Azerbaijan, Petru Timus.
The possibility of exploration and exploitation of natural gas and petrol resources on the territory of the Republic of Moldova has been discussed in July, in Moscow, by Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin and his Azerbaijan colleague Ilham Aliev, during the meetings of the informal CIS summit. The heads of state have discussed the possibility of including Azerbaijani experts as consultants in the aforementioned project.
Previously, Premier Vasile Tarlev declared that the Republic of Moldova is searching for alternative energy resources, but “until we find them, we are forced to comply with the prices set by „Gazprom”. Tarlev also mentioned that the Government’s efforts are directed towards the development of Moldovan petrol companies, and the preliminary data do not overrule the possibility to obtain petrol and natural gas on Moldovan territory.
