For December, the minimum compensation offered by the state for energy resources will be 500 lei, compared to 300 lei in November. The highest compensation will be 1,000 lei and the average compensation will exceed 700 lei, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu told a press conference. Citizens who heat their homes with gas will receive the highest compensations, IPN reports.
Minister Buzu explained that these increases are necessary to counterbalance the increase in gas charges.
"In November, the gas charge was 13.12 lei and the compensation was lower therefore. For December, the charge was raised. So, we will offer a higher compensation," said the minister.
About 93,000 families will benefit from the highest compensations, of 900 to 1,000 lei.
"We promised that the citizens will not pay a higher charge compared to last year. This is what happened in November and this is how it will be in December," said Alexei Buzu.
As for the process of registering in the compensation system, the minister said that 33,484 new applications were registered by December 25 and there re to be examined.
The compensations for December will become available after January 10.
