In case of mass protests at the meetings prepared by opposition parties, the civil society and the diaspora, the authorities will be reluctant to yield. Therefore, no particular scenario should be excluded, even one in which the situation could get out of hand. Statements in this sense were made on the “Glavnîii vopros” show on NTV Moldova, IPN reports.

Analyst Igor Volnițchi says the pre-election period will be tense, because there are three political camps, all pushing to influence political trends. The results of the elections largely depend on which of these groups will succeed most in influencing said trends. Igor Volnițchi believes that opposition parties will try to maintain a protesting spirit until the elections. The governing party will try to push its social agenda, but it won’t necessarily be allowed to do so. “It is clear that socialists can’t stay on the benches, because they can profit off the conflict between the governing party and the opposition, as many people are already tired of this political battle,” says Igor Volnițchi.

Journalist Valeri Demidetski says he would like for the protesters to hold those in power accountable, alas, like in Romania, the emphasis is placed on the European direction. “When we take certain steps towards Europe or Russia, we create a split in our own society, not in Russia, for example,” says Valeri Demidetski. According to him, there will always be parties that will profit from the situation in Moldova.
