Authorities step up security measures following Al Qaeda leader's killing

The Government of Moldova decided to strengthen the security measures in the wake of the latest measures taken to combat terrorism and the killing of the Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communique, the executive says that Prime Minister Vlad Filat ordered stepping up security measures in public places, especially at border crossing points and the Chisinau International Airport, in public transport, at the embassies working in Moldova, and in public institutions. Related steps will be taken by employees of the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, the Security and Information Service, the Border Guard Service, and the Customs Service. On May 2, U.S. President Barack Obama addresses the world and announces Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead, killed by U.S. troops in Pakistan. He said the Al Qaeda chief had been killed after a firefight at a compound outside the Pakistani capital Islamabad.
