The President of Parliament, Igor Grosu, together with Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will make a working visit to the United States of America. During this visit, meetings are planned at the State Department, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. Additionally, the officials will participate in the opening of the Republic of Moldova's Consulate in Chicago, IPN reports.

Asked by journalists, Igor Grosu stated that the relationship with the Trump administration is very good. He also mentioned that the authorities are waiting for the appointment of an ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.

"I said this back in November when I was there. I requested that the process be expedited as much as possible. We will continue to ask for an ambassador to be appointed because the U.S. is a very important partner, and we need an ambassador here," said Igor Grosu.

The President of Parliament added that the Republic of Moldova has benefited immensely from the support of the American people. There are strategic areas where Moldova has invested thanks to this support – in energy security, agriculture, winemaking, road infrastructure, universities, and many others.

"On our side, we have been and are transparent. And yes, we are grateful to the American people for all the help we have received since Independence," said Igor Grosu.

The decision regarding the resumption of funding is up to the State Department. In the meantime, the Moldovan authorities are not wasting time and are trying to redirect those projects to other donors.
