Austria will continue to support pro-European reforms of Moldova, the Austrian Minister of European and International Affairs Ursula Plassnick told a news conference, held in concert with the head of the Moldovan diplomacy Andrei Stratan, on Wednesday, April 25.
The Austrian official stated that, by means of the Common Application Centre, whose opening ceremony she attended, Austria will contribute to make Moldova’s aspirations real. Austria will become a reliable friend of Chisinau and it believes in the headway of reforms aimed at Moldova’s accession to EU, she added.
For his part, Stratan stated that during the meeting with his Austrian counterpart they have discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations between Moldova and Austria and, in particular, issues related to the cooperation between the two countries in implementing the EU-Moldova Action Plan.
As part of a meeting with speaker Marian Lupu, the Austrian Foreign Minister said that Moldova’s European integration presupposes exigent reforms but also sets formidable final objectives. The Common Centre’s inauguration means the turning to good account of the EU’s political support through actions aimed at facilitating travel of Moldovan citizens.
The first European Common Visa Application Centre (CVAC) was inaugurated within the Embassy of Hungary in Chisinau, on Wednesday, April 25, in presence of Moldova’s leadership and European high officials. Initially, the Centre will issue visas for Hungary, Austria, Latvia and Slovenia.
