Representatives of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), which is a political party registered also in Chisinau, applied to the CEC to be registered as an election contender in the July 11 snap parliamentary elections, IPN reports.
AUR Moldova president Vlad Biletski told the press they have optimistic moods in this electoral race and struggle for justice, wellbeing, a government without compromises, etc. “The electoral list we propose is headed by a woman, a mother from the diaspora, Victoria Grosu-Vremeș. The diaspora starts and ends the list. These are persons who had to leave Moldova and look for a source of livelihood to maintain their families, to feed their children,” stated Vlad Biletski.
According to him, the list consists of 52 women and 52 men and these include the leader of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoacă and the leader of Save Bessarabia Union Valeriu Munteanu. The former Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu is not on the list and this didn’t express his wish to be on the list.
Six parties and two electoral blocs have been registered as election contenders so far. These are the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists, “Building Europe at Home” Party, the Common Action Civic Congress Party, the Electoral Bloc “Renato Usatîi”, the Party of Action and Solidarity and the Shor Party, the Professional Movement “Speranţa – Nadejda” (“Hope”) and the Democratic Party. The CEC is now examining the files of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, the National Unity Party and the Political Party “Democracy at Home”.
Also today, the Party of Development and Unity of Moldova led by former Prime Minister Ion Chicu submitted the documents to the Central Election Commission for being registered as an election contender. A draw is to be held to decide the order of the two applicants on the ballot.
The candidates can filed applications to be registered until June 11, which is not later than 30 days until the election day.
