The municipal councilors fully changed their attitude to the problem of the illegal construction situated near the apartment buildings from 13/1 and 13/2 Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd. In a news conference at IPN, the lawyer for the dwellers of the given blocks Gheorghe Macovei said the municipal councilors for several weeks have tried to justify the violations committed by the building company.

The lawyer explained that an entrepreneur is erecting three 25-story apartment buildings on an area of 0.5 ha. Under the General Urban Development Plan, the lot has limitations as to the height of buildings and their purpose. The building company violated these limitations. The construction is situated close to a filling station and the minimum distance of 60 meters is not respected.

Gheorghe Macovei said that in March 2020, as a result of a lawsuit filed by the dwellers of the blocks situated nearby, the urbanism certificate and the construction authorization for the new construction were annulled. Last autumn, a large part of the councilors were informed about this situation and many of them went to the spot and even took actions then to stop the illegalities.

The lawyer said there is a draft decision that legalizes the committed illegalities. “The whips of a building company or the wishes of a political party make the whole municipal council to omit the illegalities. Why aren’t the violations punished? Why do they close the eyes and go on?”

Denis Dobrioglu, the dweller of a block located nearby, in the same news conference said the lot on which the three apartment buildings are erected is planned for a local service. After the urbanism certificate and the construction authorization were annulled, the building company went to the CC and asked the councilors to modify the purpose of the area and turn it into a residential one so as to be able to continue the works. Finally, the councilors who promised that they will stop the illegalities now try to modify the status of the area, while the interests of the building company are promoted by local councilors of the PSRM and PPPDA led by Andrei Năstase.
