Not more than 24 contestants will compete in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11. The Central Election Commission said the deadline for submissions for registering candidates as election runners expired on June 11, IPN reports.

Three parties and two independent candidates filed applications on the last day, namely: the Party of Change; the Labor People’s Party; the New Historical Option Party; Veaceaslav Valico (independent); Ion Stegărescu (independent). At 5pm on June 12, the CEC will hold a draw to decide the preliminary order on the ballot of the last five candidates.

Seventeen candidates have been registered as election runners so far. The other files are being examined. The CEC has at most seven days since the submission of the file to take a decision as to the registration.
