The public association “Moldova mea” proposes creating the Public Center for Corruption Fighting under Prime Minister Pavel Filip. Representatives of the association said that this way corruption can be rooted out from all the state institutions. In a news conference at IPN, “Moldova mea” chairman Fiodor Ghelici said that if such a center is created, the people who possess information about acts of corruption in state institutions will be able to report them.
The activist said that corruption reached a high level in society and this can be combated by active cooperation between the government and civil society. The Public Center for Corruption Fighting should be set up under the Premier because the signals about acts of corruption from the people will directly reach the Premier, without being filtered out. Moreover, “Moldova mea” is ready to offer the support needed for fighting corruption, while Fiodor Ghelici is ready to head the center.
According to him, the people can inform the center about acts of corruption in a particular state institution or about cases of appropriation of money from the state budget. Afterward, the members of the center would analyze the complaints and would remit them to the competent bodies. The center’s members should be empowered to carry out inspections at the involved institutions.
Fiodor Ghelici said that a similar body worked during the premiership of Vasile Tarlev and many cases of corruption in state institutions were identified then through the agency of that center that he managed.
Another member of the association Alexandru Iudin underlined the importance of creating such a center when an increasing number of Moldovans decide to go abroad to enjoy better living conditions, while the level of pensions in the country is low. The center would essentially contribute to fighting corruption and the young people would thus choose to remain in the country.
The members of “Moldova mea” noted that they sent an official letter to the Premier in which they formulated their proposals about the creation of the Public Center for Corruption Fighting.
