The Association for Culinary Art of Moldova (ACA) is against the Government’s decision regarding the development of the public alimentation sector, which it describes as aberration that hinders the activity of the 1,195 restaurants, cafes and bars working officially in the country, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference on June 4, the Association’s president Simion Boran expressed his regret at the fact that most of the ACA’s proposals aimed at improving the text of the decision were not taken account of. “The document contains a lot of notions and regulations that run counter to each other and that that lead to corruption, application of unjustified fines and bribing of the employees of the control bodies,” the cited source said. “The decision says that the walls of the restaurants in four-star hotels should be upholstered. This is an aberration as there are a lot of other modern materials,” Boran said. The ACA president said that some of the MPs consented to appealing to the Constitutional Court for canceling the given decision or remitting it to the executive for further amendment. Therefore, the Association will organize the Forum of Businessmen working in public alimentation in July. The participants will work out a set of proposals and recommendations on this topic. The Association for Culinary Art of Moldova has recently become a member of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) which brings together over 78 countries. The accession certificate was handed over on May 15, 2008 at the Congress of the WACS that was held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on May 12-17.
