Assessment of compliance of national legislation with EU’s launched in Brussels

The process of assessing the level of compliance of the national legislation with that of the European Union was kicked off. Moldova’s delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov, took part in a meeting centering on the issue together with European Commission officials, who will work together with the governmental team during the negotiation process, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the timetable and procedural details of the stage of assessing the compliance of the national legislation with the Community acquis were agreed in Brussels.

Cristina Gerasimov also met with Gert-Jan Koopman, Head of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations. The parties discussed the latest developments in achieving the three conditions formulated by the European Commission in its November 2023 report. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, special emphasis will be placed on the continuation of reforms in the judiciary system and the process of deoligarchization.

The interlocutors also analyzed the possibilities of capitalizing on the assistance and expertise at the level of the European Commission to strengthen the capacities of the Office for European Integration, the negotiating team and experts from national institutions.
