The works of a number of plastic artists from the Republic of Moldova and Romania were presented in an exhibition with the theme “The Old Orhei”, hosted by the “Mihai Eminescu” Cultural Center in Bucharest. The event was organized by the Moldovan Embassy in Romania to mark the National Culture Day.
“For me, it is a delight every time we get together, and even more so on Culture Day, to say that we are one and the same. There are no differences, no matter how many borders are drawn on maps, when people speak the same language, feel and think the same. And what is created can be seen to have the same Romanian vein”, declared the Romanian Minister of Culture Lucian Romașcanu.
“Indeed, we serve the same culture and it is an advantage that we are two ministers of one culture and we do not push each other, but on the contrary, we pull on this yoke which means the forward movement of Romanian culture. And as long as someone somewhere questions the unity of this culture or the unity of this nation, we will affirm this”, said the Moldovan Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan.
Moldova’s Ambassador Victor Chirilă said that it is a beautiful event that comes as a result of the creative camp organized in Butuceni, a picturesque place in the Republic of Moldova and full of history. Plastic artists from the Republic of Moldova and Romania participated in that camp.
The curator of the exhibition was the art critic Marius Tita. At the opening, the actress Lia Sinchevici recited a few stanzas from the poem "Luceafărul" written by the poet Mihai Eminescu.
The National Day of Culture is marked in the Republic of Moldova on January 15, as a tribute to the birthday of the great poet Mihai Eminescu.
