Valeriu Jereghi was invited to show his movie “Arrivederci” at the International Berdyansk Film Festival in Ukraine. The Moldovan director has said that he is expecting an official letter that would allow him to cross the Ukrainian border without the required 1,100 euros.
Jereghi has told Info-Prim Neo that he received the invitation from the administration of the festival, which is at its twelfth edition this year. “Arrivederci” aimed to raise public awareness of a great tragedy experienced by Moldova – the parents leave their children and go abroad to work.
The movie features two children aged 5 and 7, whose mother works in Italy. The children live in poverty, support each other and dream of growing older and going to Italy to their mother.
The Berdyansk Film Festival will take place between August 27 and September 3. It will bring together competitors from Russia, Poland, Greece, Israel, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.
“Arrivederci” won the Top Prize of the eleventh Teleforum of the Moscow Eurasian Television and Film Academy in November 2008.
