The independent candidate for mayor of the municipality of Balti Arina Korshikova was excluded from the electoral competition. The information was confirmed for IPN by Svetlana Kolesnik, head of the Balti District Electoral Council.
According to her, after examining the challenges filed by rivals, it was determined that Arina Korshikova cannot stand for election as she manages the channel TELESISTEM TV and was to report the incurred costs, but she didn’t do it. There are also other reasons invoked and these are all objective.
According to the preliminary data, Our Party’s candidate Alexandr Petkov polled 22.69% of the vote, while independent candidate Arina Korshikova – 21.52%. As Arina Korshikova was excluded, Alexandr Petkov in the runoff vote will contend against the Party of Socialists’ candidate Maxim Moroșan, who won 19,73% of the ballot.
