Approximately 90.7 million persons were transported by vehicles during January-October

During January-October 2006 autobuses and trolleybuses transported the biggest number of persons – approx. 90.7 million, which is a 4.6% increase compared to last year’s figures. 69.9% of the passengers were transported by private transport companies. 337.9 thousand passengers traveled by plane, which is a 10.2% increase compared to the same period of last year. The railroad transport conveyed approx. 3.9 million passengers, an increase of 7.2% compared to 2005. The river transportation serviced 85.8 thousand passengers in the period from January to October, which is only 73.7% compared to the number of passengers last year. The railroad transported passengers on an average distance of 90.2 km, auto transport (with autobuses and minibuses) the distance was 19.8 km, with river transport – 2 km, and with air transport – 1208.6 km.
