The Chisinau City Appeals Court accepted the unconstitutionality application filed by the PPPDA and asked the Constitutional Court (CC) to determine the constitutionality of provisions of the Electoral Code concerning the establishment of polling stations outside the country for the July 11 snap parliamentary elections. This way, the Court interrupted the examination of the case until the CC passes its judgment, IPN reports.

Another election contender, the AUR, supported the PPPDA’s request to the CC. AUR representative Dorin Chirtoacă after the hearing said the High Court should now show to the Chisinau City Appeals Court what path this should follow. According to him, the Central Election Commission, instead of satisfying the demands of the people so that these are able to vote, hampers them, violating the Constitution. For this, the CEC members should be dismissed and penalized.

The CEC decided to establish only 146 polling stations intended for the diaspora. The Electoral Bloc “Renato Usatîi”, PPPDA, PAS, PUN and AUR challenged this decision. The examination of the case started on June 10. The parties mounted even a protest before the Chisinau City Appeals Court on June 10 and 11.
