The director of the Association of Independent Press (API) Petru Macovei said the book launched by one of the heavyweights of the Party of Socialists, Bogdan Țîrdea, who accused the NGOs of nontransparent financing, is a fake. “The launch of the book is a manipulation technique aimed at distracting public attention from very serious problems and serious accusations made against particular candidates to the activity of public associations that, as Bogdan Țîrdea regretted, are not associated with foreign agents, as it happens in Russia,” said Petru Macovei, being quoted by IPN.
“At least the organization I represent and other organizations that were presented today by Bogdan Țîrdea are bona fide, responsible organizations that publish their reports. This does not yet happen in the case of politically controlled media outlets,” stated Petru Macovei.
According to the API director, the media monitoring reports reveal masked electoral advertisements, content of an electoral character and this fact shows that some of the media outlets in the period are financed obscurely by candidates for President. These data cannot be found in the financial reports that they present to the Central Election Commission.
