Supply of apartments in Tiraspol town significantly outstrips demand. However, the apartment prices go up. During the past ten years, they increased 5-7 times. Presently, the dwellings are sold for 400-500 dollars a square meter. A studio apartment can be purchased for 15,500-17,000 dollars, while a two-room apartment – for up to 30,000 dollars. Apartment rent rose about 50%. Without public utilities, the rent for a one-room apartment is at least 70 dollars, while for two-room apartments – 100 dollars and more. The realty agencies in Tiraspol say that the apartment prices have stabilized in the last few months, but the number of apartments put up for sale remains higher than the demand. Specialists explain this first of all by the migration of people abroad owing to the low salaries and low living standards in the region. Those that obtain a well-paid job abroad try to settle in that country.
