Several dozen demonstrators, members of the Russian Youth League of Moldova, rallied on Saturday in front the US Embassy in Chisinau to protest the United State's policy on the Russo-Georgian conflict. The young protesters were accompanied Valeri Klimenko, a pro-Russian politician, Info-Prim Neo reports. The demonstrators, carrying banners in Russian and flags of Moldova, Russia and of the League, were shouting out slogans slashing NATO, George Bush and Mikheil Saakashvili. The League's president Igor Tuleantsev declared that the United States was responsible for the war in Georgia and that the intention of the protest staged by the League was to demand Georgia's leadership stop the war. “Our men have been there and saw how the Georgian people was suffering because of Bush and Saakashvili”, he said. Valeri Klimenko, the president of the social-political movement Ravnopravie (Equity), said he attended the protest as a citizen of the Republic of Moldovan, and not as a politician. He criticized sharply the leaders of the US and Georgia, saying that they deserved Saddam Hussein's fate. He went on to add that the political parties that had expressed their concern about the conflict in South Ossetia, condemning Russia's actions, were paid by the United States to do so. Klimenko, known for his pro-Russia stance, said at a news conference earlier this week that the actions by the Russian Federations were “absolutely appropriate”.
