The staff-members of the municipal radio and TV stations “Antena C” and “Euro TV” call on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) to revise the decision on reorganising the two institutions, a joint statement on behalf of the staff-members says. The journalists also demand that the councillors create a reorganisation commission composed of representatives of “Antena C” and “Euro TV Chisinau” among others. The staff request that the projects drafted by the above mentioned companies, as well as reorganisation proposals from councillors and the civil society be put up for debate during the sessions of the respective commission, and that the reorganisation proposals be discussed during the meeting with officials from “Antena C” and “Euro TV Chisinau”. The employees consider that the decision was a rushed one from the councillors, who did not take into account the desire of the radio and TV audience from the city and the opinions of the staff-members. The petition draws attention to the fact that before such an important decision was taken, there were no talks with the members of the two staffs, and the employees were not given any explanations as to how their rights would be protected during the process of reorganisation of the two municipal enterprises. The two editorial teams announce that, during the time that passed from the taking of the decision, the quarters of the two stations have received numerous letters from listeners and viewers who have declared themselves appalled by the decision and that they disapprove of it, something which might give rise to mass protests.
