The National Energy Regulatory Agency ANRE has published a reaction to public discussions on whether conditions exist for decreasing gas charges for households. According to the ANRE, no such conditions exist at the moment.

The agency notes that the wholesale gas price included in the current retail price structure (as of October 1, 2022) is USD 926.94/1,000 m3. The estimated wholesale price in 2023, according to the TTF trading platform and the purchase structure from Gazprom and Energocom, is 951 USD/1000 m3.

At the same time, the purchase price of gas from Gazprom for January is a preliminary one, set at USD 1,230/1,000m3, largely influenced by the change in the oil mix component. According to the gas contract between Gazprom and Moldovagaz, the basic component of the oil mix is updated annually based on the average export prices of Gazprom for the last 9 months of the previous year. Currently, Gazprom has submitted a preliminary figure, and will return with the final price after wrapping up its 2022 accounting records.

The purchase price from Energocom in December 2022 was 1,094.44 USD/1,000 m3. The final price for the months of January and February is currently unknown, as Energocom continues to purchase gas from the market, optimizing the value of its stocks.
