The Administration Board of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) on August 16 decided to withdraw the license of Eventis Mobile SRL that enables to provide cellular mobile phone services in the GSM standard, the 900MHz frequency band, IPN reports, quoting the Agency’s director Grigore Varanita.

Grigore Varanita said the Council’s decision was preceded by a decision to temporarily suspend the validity of the license held by Eventis Mobile, which was taken at the request of the liquidator of the company and then validated by a decision of the Ciocana Court this May. The decision provides that the ANRCETI must be informed in written form about the removal of circumstances that led to the suspension of the license within 10 days of the day when the suspension term expires. Under the law, only a decision by the court that passed the suspension decision can serve as legal proof of the removal of these circumstances.

“The court didn’t pass such a decision. Thus, ANRCETI decided to withdraw the license of Eventis Mobile SRL and its decision is perfectly legal,” said Varanita.

The decision of the Agency’s Administration Board will be submitted to court, which is to issue an irrevocable and definitive decision on this case.

Eventis Mobile SRL received the license in December 2006. In 2007 the company launched commercially the mobile phone services. In April 2010, under a decision of the Court of Appeals, the company entered the process of insolvability. It was lately reported that the assets of Eventis Mobile SRP were bought by another company, but the transaction wasn’t registered.

Asked if the ANRCETI will hold a contest to give the mobile phone license to another company, Varanita said the period of validity of the licenses of the two large telecoms carriers Orange and Moldcell expires in 2014 and the Agency will then announce a new contest, including for the frequencies held earlier by Eventis Mobile SRL.
