Another two state institutions consider the investigations of the News Agency Info-Prim Neo about the existence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova of the bird flu virus as “incorrect suspicions”, even under conditions when in Romania and Ukraine were attested several foci. The Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Alimentary Industry (MAAI) have communicated the Agency that, until now, the virus of the bird flu was not registered on the territory of Moldova and the results of the laboratory investigations are negative. However, these institutions state that there is a significant risk for the Republic of Moldova because of the outbreaks of this disease registered in Romania and Ukraine. At the same time, according to the Government and to MAAI, the State Sanitary Veterinary Service together with local public authorities, other specialized institutions, perform a continuous activity of monitoring sick and dead birds and their further examination in laboratories. Until June 8, 5678 samples of blood serum were tested. The tested samples were drawn from wild or domestic bird corpses. The results of the tests were in all cases negative. These two state institutions affirm that the virus can not be concealed, and that is the reason why the suspicions are incorrect. The same answers and conclusions were offered by the Parliamentary Commission for Agriculture. The Science Academy shared the society’s concern about this issue. Two weeks ago, Info-Prim Neo reporter has officially submitted a series of questions to several public authorities of national level, inquiring information about the existence of bird flu on the territory of the country and the society’s level of preparedness in case of a future appearance of the virus.
