A number of 36 education institutions of Moldova joined the national program to study robotics and received robotic sets LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 in an official ceremony on November 22. The program “Roboclub” is implemented with support from the Moldova Competiveness Project that is financed by USAID and the Government of Sweden, IPN reports.

Another 40 schools, which are active members of the robotic network and showed goods results in implementing the program, received robotic sets for primary classes LEGO WEDO and Makeblock and digital fabrication equipment – printers with 3D scanners.

Head of the USAID Mission to Moldova Karen Hilliard said all children deserve to have access to modern digital technology and equipment in schools so as to benefit from better education. Today already, a successful career necessitates STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) skills.

The network of the robotic program includes 112 education institutions. The program “Roboclub” was launched in 2014. The investments made by USAID and the Government of Sweden in the program total US$ 500,000. The local partners, including the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, local communities and private partners, contributed over US$ 165,000.
