The partial withdrawal of Russian troops is only a change of scenario and does not mean the passing of the danger of a military invasion of Ukraine, said experts, referring to the developments on the Russia-Ukrainian border. According to specialists, the goal of Moscow is to create uncertainty and hysteria over Ukraine and this seriously affects the economy of this country, IPN reports.

Expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” Igor Munteanu said the announcement of the partial withdrawal of Russian troops cannot be regarded as the capitulation of Moscow as it is just a change of scenario. Even if a military invasion will not occur, Russia will not renounce its ambitions to bring Ukraine back within the Kremlin’s orbit.

“Before this announcement of the partial withdrawal of Russian troops from the border with Ukraine was made, Putin had a meeting with Lavrov. Lavrov informed him publicly about the negotiations he had with a number of chancelleries, telling him that he received negative responses to essential problems. This means the ultimatum to which the Russian Federation resorted didn’t produce the result wanted by Putin. We now witness a shift of emphasis, but this does not mean that the risk of a military invasion passed. We speak about a war that has multiple dimensions. A land invasion is one of the dimensions, but there can be tens of alternating forms of hybrid warfare,” Igor Munteanu stated in the program “Freedom” on TV8 channel.

Expert of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms Iulian Groza said the announcement made by the U.S. concerning a potential invasion of Ukraine on February 16 was aimed at thwarting Russia’s plans and at discouraging the expansionist intentions of Moscow.

“The goal of the Russian Federation’s actions is to create uncertainty, tensions, chaos and even hysteria through the international communication it has with the West. As to the reports that an attack will be staged on February 16, we must attentively analyze these intentional leaks. They were aimed at discouraging, preventing particular presupposed actions that the Russian Federation was ready to take depending on the developments. Regrettably, there is panic in Ukraine and this seriously affects this country from economic viewpoint,” stated Iulian Groza.

Yesterday, the Russian Federation announced the partial withdrawal of its troops from the border with Ukraine. The Russian Ministry of Defense invoked military exercises. The Russian Federation mobilized about 130,000 soldiers at the border with Ukraine, including 30,000 soldiers who take part in military exercises in Belarus.
