The National Food Safety Agency opened an investigation into the illegal dumping of animal skulls after images of the skulls appeared on social media. The authorities are working to identify those responsible and establish the origin of the waste, and will impose drastic penalties, IPN reports.

Inspectors of the Agency, together with representatives of the Strășeni Police Inspectorate and the Roșcani mayor’s office, went to the scene to document the case.

The Agency will notify the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, in accordance with the legislation on waste management.

Illegal dumping of waste is punishable by fines or community service. In the case of legal entities, the penalty consists of a fine of at most 6,000 lei and ban on working for a period of up to one year.

The National Food Safety Agency will inform the public about the measures taken and warns that such practices can have serious consequences.
