Andrei Stratan will inform lawmakers about implementation of E.U. Action Plan for Moldova

Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Stratan will report on the implementation ff the European Union’s Action Plan for Moldova in one year to the parliament next week. Lawmakers made this decision at the request of lawmaker Oleg Serebrian, who was supported by Speaker Marian Lupu. The chairman of the commission for foreign policy and European integration, Sergiu Stati, proposed that this hearing take place in April after the European Commission makes public its stance in this respect. However, the parliament turned down this proposal, voting for participation of Minister Startan in the March 9 or 10 sitting. Earlier, Startan has told a news conference on the first anniversary of the E.U. Action Plan for Moldova that the Foreign and European Integration Ministry along with other state ministries and institutions took actions for a successful implementation of this document. Cesare de Montis, head of the European Commission Delegation to Moldova, said: „We are satisfied with the implementation of the Action Plan in the first year, but we could be more satisfied. The E.U. Action Plan for Moldova was signed on February 22, 2005 for a 3-year term.
