Putuntica competed for Europe’s team that included three more tennis players: a Romanian, a Russian, and a German. In the final, the tennis team of Europe was beaten by Asia’s team by 1-3, with Putuntica scoring the only goal of his team.

Andrei Putuntica is trained by the president of the Tennis Federation of Moldova Vladimir Semipiadnyi. The athlete, who is from Calarasi, became continental champion among children at the age of 10.

A similar accomplishment was achieved by Olga Blinzet in 2010. She became world vice champion in the teams competition and won bronze in the women’s doubles.
