The Chișinău City Hall electoral campaign brought more fragmentation and division to the Unionist segment. This opinion was expressed by the president of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives, Andrei Popov, who believes that this has occurred when several Unionist representatives launched their candidacies in the campaign. In his opinion, some candidates who support unionism should withdraw from the race in favor of a single candidate in order to increase their chances of passing to the second round.

"If they run separately, they will each gain 2-3-5% of the vote. Do you imagine what an eventual, purely hypothetical, mass withdrawal of three or four candidates in support for the cause would? Țicu, Munteanu, Chirtoacă - it does matter who gets endorsed", Andrei Popor said at the N4 show "Puterea a patra".

According to Popov, the situation in which the Unionist segment finds itself is a good opportunity for reflection for the ACUM bloc, especially considering that Octavian Țîcu withdrew from the Partidului Platforma Demnitate și Adevăr group, while other Mps also criticize the ACUM bloc. The president of IIS claimed that the ACUM bloc should pivot to the center of the political chessboard and conquer other segments of the political spectrum, otherwise the Socialist Party will fill in the void.

Moreover, the IIS president holds the opinion that snap parliamentary elections may be triggered at the same time as the presidential elections or afterwards. In his opinion, currently, there is no premise for a snap parliamentary election before the presidential elections set for 2020.
