The leader of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Andrei Năstase welcomes the removal of Vladimir Țurcan from the post of president of the Constitutional Court (CC). He considers Țurcan should have resigned voluntarily and he should be disciplinarily and criminally investigated, IPN reports.

“Soothing normal happened. I would have been glad if Mister Țurcan had used the dose of conscience that everyone in this world has and resigned. I insisted and will yet insist that he and Igor Dodon should be disciplinarily and criminally investigated. Our approaches will be brought to an end,” Andrei Năstase stated in the talk show “Fourth Power” on N4 TV channel.

The politician noted he does not know details about the dismissal, but the CC did nothing but used the procedures that should be applied in such cases and what was done was done for the better.

The ex-minister of home affairs presumes that the removal Vladimir Țurcan and his replacement with Domnica Manole took place with the contribution of four CC judges.

“Huge responsibility was placed on Missis Domnica Manole whom I trusted and continue to trust. This does not mean that I cannot transmit a public message to Domnica Manole and this majority that by its acts so far showed that it is correct. There are four judges who suspended the unconstitutional law disputes by our colleague Dinu Plângău. They declared that law unconstitutional. I suspect Țurcanu was dismissed by the same majority. Things stand as they stand. I address all the CC judges: no one in this country can be above the law, above the Constitution,” stated Andrei Năstase.

He noted that Domnica Manole has never disappointed and has struggled.

“She is a model of lady, judge in this country who was perseverant, consistent in what she did. I can only add that Domnica Manole is the civil society’s representative at the CC and I’m very glad that our fellows in Parliament insisted on their approaches and Domnica Manole was justly named CC judge,” said the politician.

A decision published on the CC’s website on April 23 says that judge Domnica Manole was elected president of the CC for a three-year term by secret ballot following the dismissal of Vladimir Țurcan. The decision is definitive, takes effect when it is adopted and is published in the Official Gazette.
