“The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” has the capacity of a powerful party to come with an own candidate before the people if other political and civic forces do not respond to our appeal,” the party’s leader Andrei Năstase was quoted by IPN as saying in a news conference.

Andrei Năstase believes the PPPDA will be supported in its approaches aimed at identifying a common nonparty candidate for the presidential elections of 2020 and that the relevant appeal made on January 14 is a correct one. “We saw the reaction of society and consider that society wants unity in the public, national interests, in the interests of this state and the people of this republic,” he stated.

The politician noted that the party he manages did its best to see the political and civic forces in the country united. “We proved this in 2016, when nothing recommended it, and withdrew from the race. We did this later too. Owing exclusively to the DA Platform, we had an ACUM Bloc,” he said.

In another development, Andrei Năstase said the Standing Political Bureau of the PPPDA entrusted the party’s parliamentary group with the tasks of seeking public explanations about the existing political cases from the Prosecutor General’s Office and of organizing public hearings with the involvement of victims of political repression, representatives of the Ministry of Justice and the PGO.

The parliamentary group will also prepare a report based on the collected materials and will make the necessary approaches to the PGO so that the victims of political repression are rehabilitated.

The members of the PPPDA called on society to unite against political persecution and to help do justice to the people who suffered as a result of the legal abuses committed by political factors and decision makers of Moldova.
