After the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, after it enters Parliament and then forms part of the Government of Moldova, the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” will punish the traffickers in drugs much more harshly, with long jail term, and will establish a special anti-drug department with increased powers and with officers who studied abroad, by the model of the U.S., said the party’s leader Andrei Năstase. According to him, the 235 kg of heroine seized several days ago show that Moldova was reintroduced into the international drug route and the country is used as one of the gateways to the EU, IPN reports.

“It means that the mafia found again vulnerabilities in our security system and, what is more serious, there can be signs of complicity and corruption among employees of the state bodies,” stated Andrei Năstase. The politician warned that two negative consequences derive from here. “A part of the drugs remain in Moldova and are used by people, leading to destroyed families and wasted lives. The other part of drugs, when they reach the West, besides the lives they destroy there, give the signal that they came to Europe through Moldova and that we have poor or corrupt control institutions and are not ready to join the EU.”

Nastase reminded that while he served as minister of the interior, he requested zero tolerance of corruption from the employees of all the managed bodies and the caught traffickers and eliminated schemes are a proof of the efforts he made.
