Andrei Donică is contending for the post of mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau on behalf of the Professionals’ Movement “Speranța-Nadejda”, which he heads.
He was born on December 28, 1980 in Chisinau. He is married and has two children.
In 1998, he graduated from the Theoretical Lyceum “Vasile Alecsandri”, while in 2003 – the Public Administration Academy under the President of the Republic of Moldova. He is a scientific researcher at the Scientific-Practical Institute of Horticulture and Food Technology, a doctor of agricultural sciences, a university researcher. In 2008, he was a laureate of the Youth Award of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. The same year, he was conferred a diploma of honor by the Ministry of Agriculture. In 2010, he was named vice president of the Association of Fruit Producers of the Republic of Moldova, while in 2011 – president of the Association for Preventing and Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption.
On October 12, 2018, he was given a one-year suspended sentence after on September 30, 2016 he splashed a bucket of milk on Octavian Armașu, then minister of finance.
In February 2019, he headed the slate in the national constituency at the parliamentary elections on behalf of the Sociopolitical Movement “Speranța-Nadejda”. The party gained 2,826 votes, which is 0.19% of the ballot. He also competed in the local elections of 2019 and obtained the office of mayor of Condrița village of the municipality of Chisinau. At the upcoming elections, he also registered as a candidate for mayor of Condrița and was therefore not admitted to the electoral competition for the mayoralty of Chisinau. However, the court ruled in his favor and the Chisinau District Electoral Council as a result registered him as a contender.
For last year, Andrei Donică declared over 139,000 lei salaries, while his wife declared over 129,000 lei salaries. In 2016, the candidate came into possession of an apartment of over 67 square meters to the value of 540,000 lei. Andrei Donică also declared four cars and four trailers. In his property and interests statement, he also declared a café-bar and a car service, and also a loan of over 463,000 lei raised in 2018 at an inters rate of 11.37%.
Andrei Donică said that in the campaign prior to the local elections, he will struggle to rid the Chisinau City Hall of mafia.
As it was decided by draw, Andrei Donică of the Professionals’ Movement “Speranța-Nadejda” will be next to No. 21 on the ballot.
