The article forms part of IPN’s information campaign that presents biographical data, information about the incomes and property and professional experience of candidates for mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau.

Anatol Usatyi competes for the mayoralty of Chisinau on behalf of the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova, which is led by ex-Premier Ion Chicu.

Anatol Usatyi was born on July 21, 1976 in Gura Camencii village of Florești district. He is married and has two children.

In 1998, he graduated from the Free International University of Moldova, the Faculty of Economy. Since 1998 until 2000, he worked as a senior specialist at the Road Development Division of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. In 2000-2001, he served as the chief economist of the “Druminvest” project implementation unit. In 2001-2003, he headed the Economic Division of the state-run company State Road Administration.

In 2003-2006, he returned to the “Druminvest” project implementation unit as deputy director, while in 2006-2010, he held a number of new posts at the State Road Administration. Since 2010, for five years, he managed the Road Rehabilitation Project. In 2015-2017, he served as deputy minister at the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction/Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure. After the reform, in November 2017 – July 2019, he served as secretary of state of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.

For a short period of time, October – November 2019, he held the post of first deputy head of the Executive Committee of ATU Gagauzia. In November 2019 – December 2020, he served as minister and secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure. Since August 2023, he has managed the RLF-Moldova Railways Crisis Response Project at the state-run enterprise Moldova’s Railways.

For January 1 – December 31, 2022, the candidate declared 21,760 lei earnings from the public association Agricultural Development Institute, for consultancy services, and a 400,000 lei loan raised in 2022 with a zero interest rate, which was repaired by June 2023.

Anatol Usatyi owns a lot to the value of over 473,000 lei purchased in 2014, a house of over 32 square meters to the value of 97,000 lei purchased in 2014 and an unfinished construction whose value wasn’t specified. He also possesses a car made in 2010 which he bought the same year, worth over 378,000 lei.

I believe I am the most suitable potential candidate for such a capital city as Chisinau. Trust practitioners, dear residents of Chisinau. I have a clear view for the municipality of Chisinau so as to ensure its massive, structured and immediate development. The initiatives we will implement are designed to make the city and its suburban settlements more prosperous, safer and accessible,” Anatol Usatyi stated in the presentation event.

As the draw decided, Anatol Usatyi of the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova will be the seventh on the list of candidates written on the ballot.
