Within the dialogue with the PDM and PLDM, the Communists demanded that Iurie Leanca should no longer be Prime Minister and that another candidate for premiership should be found, the director of the Center for Strategic Research and Political Consultancy “Politicon” Anatol Taranu said in the talk show “Place for dialogue” on the public station Radio Moldova, IPN reports.

According to Taranu, in such conditions the PLDM intends to field Natalia Gherman for the post of Premier, if a government alliance with the Liberal Party is not formed. “The Liberal-Democrats decided that if the candidacy of Leanca is not accepted, they can propose a career diplomat for this post as the Riga Summit is approaching and this event is a very important one for Moldova’s integration into the EU,” he stated, making reference to sources in the PLDM.

Anatol Taranu also considers that the ignoring of the PCRM by the pro-European parties would have been a fatal mistake. “The Communists of 2015 are no longer those that ruled in 2009. They do not dominate the political arena and are penalized by the voters. It would have been an unforgivable mistake if they had pushed the Communists towards the Socialists as the left would have been thus strengthened,” he stated.

The director of “Politicon” considers the PL is to blame for the delay in the negotiations on the formation of a government coalition. “The Liberals polled insufficient votes for such pretensions. It’s known all over the world that those who gained the largest number of votes have the great say, while those with the lowest number of votes must be satisfied with what’s left,” he said.
