The elimination of elements from the state flag and coat of arms is a crime committed by President Igor Dodon because these symbol of the state should be respected in the way stipulated in the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, historian Anatol Petrencu stated in the program “People’s Council” on 10TV channel, IPN reports.
According to Anatol Petrencu, the President, who is the guarantor of the Constitution, should be the first who respects the symbols of the state. “Iran is a country where Islam is a kind of rival to Christianity, while the cross sign is the symbol of Christianity. Dodon the second time goes there and, to satisfy whims of those whom he meets there, removes the cross from the coat. This is very serious,” said the historian.
He noted that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova should criticize and protest against such an action because what the President does it is not normal. “What Dodon does in practice undermines the independence of the Republic of Moldova. He actually acts in Russia’s interests,” stated Anatol Petrencu.
Earlier, the press reported that Moldova’s flag without the cross in the beak of the eagle and without the scepter was raised in Iran during President Igor Dodon’s visit to Iran. On a social networking site, the President wrote that in all the bilateral meetings Moldova’s flag was the official one, except for the flag that was among the other 160 flags inside Parliament during the inauguration. “I warned the administration of Iran and they promised this will be changed”. During a previous visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran by President Igor Dodon, Moldova’s state flag also lacked particular elements.
