The cases of infection with COVID-19 will rise significantly during the next two-three weeks in the Republic of Moldova. But the spread of the virus can be slowed down if the isolation rules are strictly obeyed. This way the doctors will be offered more time to appropriately manage the treatment of patients infected with COVID-19, IPN reports.

“Judging by the experience of the countries that started to fight COVID-19 before us, the trend will be upward for a longer period of time, for two-three weeks or even a month,” former director of the National Clinical Hospital Anatol Ciubotaru stated in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

According to him, a crucial element is the information possessed by doctors about the potential carriers of COVID-19.

“Everything depends on the measures that are taken and will be taken by the authorities. It is extremely important not to lose any minute in this fight, not to relax. It is important that the information should be accurate, clear. This will enable us to react appropriately in any situation. It is imperative in this struggle to supervise each patient and take the necessary measures on time,” noted the physician.

As to the reports that the central public authorities hide the real number of medical personnel infected with COVID-19, Anatol Ciubotaru said he does not think that particular figures are hidden intentionally, but there is probably some juggling.

“The director of the National Public Health Agency said the number of infections among doctors represents
only 3%, but this is not true. They took the number of infected doctors and the total number of registered patients, but they should compare the number of infected doctors and the number of tested doctors and the parentage will be then 15%,” he stated.

However, Anatol Ciubotaru considers the authorities and the doctors took correct measures to fight the COVID-19 infection.

“If we strictly respect the isolation rules, the virus will spread slower and we will have time to manage the situation and deal with those infected.”
