The Pro-European Coalition achieved a number of results during one year in power, but committed also mistakes that affected its image. The issue was discussed by invitees to the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Political analyst Olga Nicolenco enumerated several of the problems that the coalition was unable to solve such as corruption, creation of workplaces, the Transnistrian conflict, the situation in Gagauzia and state security. “Moldova may lose the role of spoilt child of the Eastern Partnership. Ukraine is much more attractive for the EU now that Pyotr Poroshenko, who is evidently pro-European, won the elections there. The EU may not pay the same increased attention to Moldova and may concentrate its attention on the neighboring state. Thus, the politicians in Chisinau should make maximum use of the position Moldova enjoys in the Eastern Partnership,” she stated.

On the other hand, expert in international law Vitalie Gamurari considers that the Moldovan government achieved remarkable results. “It is a successful year. The results of the reforms done by the government will be felt in several years. The successes are due not only to this government, but also to the previous ones that ruled after 2009. I’m glad that they speak openly about the problems. The freedom of expression and the freedom of the media are also among the successes,” he said.

Journalist Valentin Buda also praised the current government, saying it deserves one more chance in this autumn’s elections, especially in order to come closer to the EU. “If someone had said four years ago that we will soon have a liberalized visa regime and we will sign the Association Agreement with the EU, we would have perceived these things as something implausible. The grade for the foreign policy is positive. The major goal was achieved. We cannot demolish a construction that did a lot for Moldova. Moldova not only deserves a European Coalition. This coalition must be improved and strengthened. I believe in Moldova’s potential, which can be realized only by a European Collation,“ she stated.

The program’s permanent invitee Cristian Tabara considers the fact that the government coalition coped with the challenges is its greatest accomplishment. “The people live in peace. Nobody was beaten and there were no disputes on May 9, as they forecast. This is because someone knows how to manage things,” he said.

The current Government of Moldova was installed on May 31, 2013, after a profound political crisis was overcome The Pro European Coalition was formed by the Liberal Democrat Party, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Reformist Party.
