“Poet Mihai Eminescu represents out continuity and we all identify with the bard in his universe,” said literary historian and critic Ana Bantos. In a conference centering on the works of Eminescu, held at the Romanian Language House “Nichita Stanescu”, Ana Bantos stated that owing to the variety of his works, Eminescu is considered a universal achievement. The event brought together literary critics, university teachers, plastic artists and students, IPN reports.

Ana Bantos, who organized the conference, said this event is a good occasion for reflecting on the continuity of the Romanian culture. “Different periods passed, but Eminescu remains. He is the value with which we compared ourselves, especially in the period of national renaissance. We found ourselves in the universe of Eminescu and had him ahead of our movement. We should also find out way now, when our society goes through convulsions similar to those experienced by Eminescu in his time,” she stated.

On the occasion of the National Culture Day and the 166th anniversary of Mihai Eminescu’s birth, an exhibition by plastic artist Iraida Ciobanu was mounted at the Romanian Language House. The exhibit entitled “Lake of blue forests” includes about 30 paintings inspired from Mihai Eminescu’s woks. Iraida Ciobanu said the patriotic spirit, dignity and profoundness of Eminescu’s thoughts will always be topical.

Also, students of a number of Chisinau high schools put on epoch clothes and recited poems by Mihai Eminescu.
